Sasha Jacob

Mr. Jacob first gained experience in capital markets at the age of 10, where in addition to attending the annual shareholder meetings of companies with which he owned stock, he would often join his father in trips to the Toronto Stock Exchange. These experiences marked the beginning of a dynamic and enriched education in the financial markets, which has been fully manifested in the creation and management of North America’s leading investment bank focusing on renewable energy.

While completing his BA at Bishop’s University in Quebec, Mr. Jacob demonstrated his affinity to govern and engage by serving on the executive committees of several campus organizations. This proclivity was consummated during a tenure of several years in senior political positions as Special Assistant to the Ontario Minister of Energy during the province’s electricity deregulation efforts, which were conceived and implemented to provide the framework for IPP’s to integrate into the energy space in Ontario.

After completing his MBA from Sir Wilfrid Laurier University, Mr. Jacob founded and led the power and infrastructure practice at one of Canada’s largest independent investment banks, where he was the first Investment Banker in Canada to focus exclusively on renewable energy transactions. This expertise, unrivalled in its class, finally led him to found Jacob Securities Inc. in 2006.

An independent Investment bank focused on the renewable power, cleantech and energy sectors, Jacob Securities is composed of prominent industry veterans and has operations in Toronto, Calgary, London, Beijing, Singapore, and New York. Mr. Jacob was recognized for his innovation and achievement in this venture as a recipient of the Laurier MBA Alumni 2009 Outstanding Executive Leadership Award. Having managed over 40 transactions in the renewable sector since its inception, Mr. Jacob has participated in renewable financings valued at over $3 billion, and was recognized by Institutional Investors as one of the “5 Most Influential Emerging Players in Renewable Energy”.

Firmly believing in the necessity and positive impact of philanthropy, Mr. Jacob is a devout patron of the environment and community at large. He serves on the boards of several charitable organizations, including the World Wildlife Fund (Canada), Plan Canada, Justin Eves Foundation, and the Evergreen Brickworks Capital Campaign. Recognized for his leadership and achievements in both the financial and philanthropic sectors, Mr. Jacobs frequently appears as a guest lecturer at conferences and on panels.
